STAR was established in 2017, operating in the University of Eastern Finland and in the University of Queensland (Brisbane, Australia). The group conducts globally known and recognized research related to the development of diagnostics of obstructive sleep apnea and sleep disorders.

Our group investigates the prevalence, risk factors, mechanisms, diagnostics, and prognosis of prolonged cough. The group started in 1999 and has published over 40 original publications about the topic.
