School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health Sciences
I am assessing the impact of lifestyle interventions (dietary and physical exercise) on blood microsampling metabolite composition when compared to conventional plasma and whole blood samples.
We aim to identify robust biomarker candidates that reflect the metabolic responsiveness to interventions and the related composition and function of the gut microbiota. The assessment includes a non-targeted metabolite profiling approach, as well as a compound-centric investigation of target metabolites.
The project takes place between industry and academia with Afekta Technologies Ltd., a metabolomics company specialized in food, nutrition, and gut microbiota-related analyses, and the University of Eastern Finland.
