The aim of this project is to develop and strengthen career counselling skills and expertise within the employment services and to ensure the quality as well as equality of the employment services in the municipality. Guidance and counselling skills are of critical importance as the organizations in employment services are participating in the municipal employment trial and therefore, re-organizing their services and responsibilities. With the help of our project, employment services can become more efficient in, firstly, increasing citizens’ employability and preventing exclusion from the labor market, and, secondly, fostering active citizenship and citizens’ attachment to the society.

The aims of the project are:

– To develop career counselling skills and expertise in the employment services, on both individual and collective levels
– To help the professionals in the employment services to develop their work via the process-based workshops, hosted by the project
– To organize interactive educational events to a wider target group
– To provide the participants with efficient guidance and counselling instruments, suitable for both individual and small group guidance
– To enhance municipal multi-professional collaboration in the employment services
– To develop an evaluation instrument for assessing change in counselling skills

The project will organize a series of educational events that aim to strengthen and deepen the career counselling skills of professionals working with adults. In addition, the project organizes municipal, process-based workshops, embedded in the working environments of the employment service specialists. Guidance expertise in collaboration -project bases its activities on the issues that are particular to adults in life design and transition processes. Thus, the employment services will be able to tailor their activities according to the individual needs of their customers and provide both individual and small group counselling. The change in the counselling skills and agency will be documented and developed through an assessment protocol. The assessment protocol functions as a developmental instrument to reflexively monitor the work in the process-based workshops. It is also an instrument for gathering knowledge on the change that is brought about by the project activities, that is, the change in counselling processes and procedures within the employment services.
