Spatialities of Local Transformations (SLOT) research group focuses on the spatial processes that affect and guide place making, regional development and policy translation. It conducts research with a strong place-based focus but additionally integrates the wider spatialities that shape local materializations such as EU policy design and mobility, societal debates or market relations. Thereby, SLOT research group focuses on the spatial positionalities of localities and actors to evaluate governance and transformation processes. Topical, research at SLOT is particularly concerned with transformations framed by a sustainability or green rhetoric/agenda (e.g. bioeconomy, circular economy).
Based on its locality focus research at SLOT often follows a case study focus and employs intensive in-depth qualitative methods as well as extensive quantitative data set analysis.
