Virpi Sorsa

I was awarded PhD degree, with management and organization as my major subject 18th of December 2012, the 5-year assistant professorship in 2015, and invited to work as the Head of subject and Vice Head of Department in 2016-2018 at Hanken. In 2021 I was hired to manage an Academy of Finland funded project Executive Education as Strategy Practice at Aalto University and JSBE and continued as a University Lecturer in Management in JSBE before joining UEF Business School. My current research focus on the development of business networks in Finland through executive education.

My earlier published work is based on two extensive ethnographic research projects in city organizations. I have also built other joined research projects. The results are published or are in publication process in high quality peer-reviewed journals and in books published by international and national academic publishers.

I have also done academic service in the Strategic activities and practices interest group in the most respected academic community in the field of Management and organisation, the Academy of Management. This position was part of the 5-year chair track and lasted by the end of 2022. I have also worked in a leadership group in the Strategy as practice community in EGOS (European Group of Organization Studies) and presented my work actively in other respected international academic communities (e.g. PROS Process organisation studies, CMS Critical Management Studies). I am an active member in an international Strategy as Practice research network.
