Kaisa Näkki (LL.M., trained on the bench) is a PhD researcher. She is writing her multidisciplinary, empirical doctoral thesis on “The Many Faces of Dementia – Assessing the Need for Legal Guardianship.”
Näkki is investigating under what circumstances a person with dementia is considered legally incapable and requires a legal guardian, particularly if they exhibit cognitive or neuropsychiatric symptoms other than classical memory deficits. A key research question is how the perspectives of medical professionals and legal professionals differ on this issue.
Näkki is also a member of the network of elder law experts VAASI.
