Access to the necessary welfare services
This research project combines several different knowledge interests, all related to how individual rights are protected through welfare services. Access to services and the factors that support it play a central role in the analysis. The availability of services does not yet guarantee their accessibility – services may be available, but they are not necessarily equally accessible to everyone.
The accessibility of the service system can be addressed by becoming aware of the various obstacles to the accessibility of services and by taking action to improve the situation. Changing mindsets and operating cultures is central to this. Effective legislation will not help if we do not invest in implementing the regulations and ensuring that the reforms are implemented in practice. Our goal in this study is, on the one hand, to produce information on the basis of which the various obstacles to accessibility can be identified and responded to. On the other hand, we also aim to identify the factors that support accessibility. Based on this understanding, more effective services can be produced within the existing resources.
