TACKLEHATE is a project that utilizes research results and outputs from previous HAFFECT research project which ended in August 2025 and was funded by Research Council of Finland. TACKLEHATE gathers the existing knowledge and knowhow together to create a permanent hub for tackling hate speech and to form a toolkit of various accessible anti-hate tools. The toolkit will consist of: 1) means to reach out for producers, targets and witnesses of hate speech, including a mobile game and online comics; 2) moderation apps for platform users; 3) data repository for researchers, educators and decision makers, and 4) SemanticQA to encourage and support thorough documentation and explanation of the analysis workflow.

TACKLEHATE is a consortium of universities of Eastern Finland and Tampere. PI of the consortium is professor Tuija Saresma (UEF). The sub project is led by professor Kaarina Nikunen (TUNI).
