Pedagogical Use of Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence in Nursing Leadership Course (DIGIHOJO)
The DIGIHOJO project complements nursing leadership education by adding content related to digitalisation and artificial intelligence and by incorporating new methods. The project develops a new course, “Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence in Nursing and Nursing Management” (4 ECTS), for the Master’s Degree Programme in Nursing Science introduced in autumn 2025. The aim is to support the competence and practical use of digital solutions and artificial intelligence in nursing practice.
The project has received funding from the University of Eastern Finland’s (UEF) Teaching Development Fund for 2026. It is integrated into the project “Pedagogical Construction and Use of AI Agents in Courses”, coordinated by the School of Applied Educational Science and Teacher Education (University Lecturer Susanna Pöntinen).
DIGIHOJO brings together a multidisciplinary team from the Department of Nursing Science, the Department of Health and Social Management, Digital Services, the Centre for Continuous Learning, the Wellbeing Services County of North Savo, and Columbia University Medical Center & Columbia University Data Science Institute (USA). The project team also includes Master’s students in Nursing Science.
The course will be offered in both Finnish and English and will be available from late 2026 to Master’s students in Nursing Science as well as to all interested learners through the UEF Open University. The course description can be found from UEF Peppi: https://opas.peppi.uef.fi/en/course/TH00EU57/136960?period=2025-2026
