The project is funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The total budget of the project is 190000€, of which the granted funding is 133000€. The project is implemented by University of Eastern Finland.

With funding from the Ministry of Education and Culture, the University of Eastern Finland will start training speech therapists in autumn 2021.The training will be multidisciplinary and will be carried out in cooperation with the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Health Sciences. The unique multidisciplinary design of the training will enable the implementation of a new type of training that meets the needs of the workforce. In the field of education and research, the University collaborates with various social and health services. To ensure the successful launch of this training, the Logolab project will design, purchase, install and build a modern simulation room for speech therapy. The space will also be designed as a shared-use laboratory for speech and language research. The LogoLab project is the first phase of development work to ensure that the technology is in place for the launch of the training and professional cooperation network in autumn 2021. The second phase of the project, which will require more extensive building works, will be launched once the necessary training is in place.

The project will result in the construction of the first phase of a modern simulation room and speech and language laboratory, which will allow the launch of multi-professional and multi-site training. The laboratory will be used as a training and teaching facility both for initial training in speech and language therapy and for continuing and further training of professional speech and language therapists, as well as for updating their professional skills.

The project is funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Regional Council of North Carelia.
