VakaTuki research project examines the implementation of the latest reform (1183/2021) of Act on Early Childhood Education and Care (540/2018) on its transitional phase. The reform concerns on three tiere support in early childhood education and care.
The project focuses on the implementation and possible developmental challenges in administrational processes, inclusive leadership, sufficient staff resources, inclusion, and targeting the needs of children and guardians.
The universities of Eastern Finland, Helsinki, Jyväskylä, and Oulu are jointly responsible for the implementation of the research project. In the project, three sub-researches will be carried out, of which the Universities of Eastern Finland and Helsinki are responsible for the first sub-research, the University of Jyväskylä for the second and the University of Oulu for the third.
Professor Päivi Pihlaja of the University of Eastern Finland is the director of the entire research project. The leader of the second sub-project is associate professor Elina Fonsén from the University of Jyväskylä, and the leader of the third sub-project is university lecturer Elina Viljamaa from the University of Oulu.
The Ministry of Education and Culture is funding the project.
