Narratives of institutionalised disability history (InDi) investigates people with disabilities and their lives through exploring institutional care documents from 1927–1977 in Finland. The aim is to illustrate how these documents portray the residents’ belonging to society: In which way are people with disabilities and their connectedness to the society depicted in the documents? The data are analysed by deploying narrative inquiry.
The study contributes to the intersection of Disability Studies and social work by providing insights into the lived welfare state by combining a historical perspective to analyses of the lived citizenship of people with disabilities.
