Education: High school graduate 1993 (Talvisalo High School, Savonlinna); M.Sc. 1999, Ph.Lic. 2003, Ph.D. 2005 (University of Joensuu); Docent, mass spectrometry 2008- (University of Helsinki, Faculty of Pharmacy).
Academic career: Research assistant 1998-1999, Early-stage researcher/PhD student 1999-2005 (University of Joensuu); Visiting researcher 2002 (University of Warwick, UK); Postdoctoral researcher 2005-2008, Assistant professor 2008-2009 (University of Joensuu); Professor 2010-current (University of Eastern Finland).
Research interests: High-resolution mass spectrometry, bioanalytical chemistry, structural proteomics, metabolomics, petroleomics, biorefining/thermochemical conversion, enzyme catalysis, environmental chemistry.
