Knowledge base and practices of structural disability social work in wellbeing service counties
The reforms regarding the Act on Disability Services and Assistance as well as wellbeing service counties in Finland set new conditions for disability social work that arise in professional circumstances. This research project investigates knowledge base and practices of structural disability social work from institutional, professional and experiential perspectives. This comprises the following sets: documents of wellbeing services counties, disability councils, and social services ombudspersons as well as client participation groups’ materials and life historical data of people with disabilities. New data will be collected through social workers’ focus group interviews as well as through the letters from the future method. Analysis will be done using qualitative methods.
This research project aims to explore the construction of knowledge and practices related to disability in wellbeing services counties. In doing so, the project will shed light on structural disability social work, which can facilitate the inclusion of people with disabilities as well as protect their rights.
