OwnTeam in North Savo (OTSAVO) study examines continuity of care and its development in primary health care in North Savo, Finland.
From year 2025, the Wellbeing services county of North Savo is gradually implementing the new OwnTeam continuity of care model, which supports patient care through a personal doctor or OwnTeam doctor, a personal nurse, and a multidisciplinary team. This study evaluates the implementation of this model and its impact on continuity of care, service quality, and healthcare professionals’ experiences. It also follows changes in previous care models over a three-year period and investigates how supervisors utilize data-driven management tools in primary care.
Data will be collected between 2025 and 2028 using a mixed-methods approach, including surveys, interviews, and register-based data. In addition, registry data will be analyzed retrospectively from 2023 onwards. As part of the OTSAVO study, the functioning of the Osmo Teaching Clinic will also be evaluated.
The study is conducted by the University of Eastern Finland in collaboration with the wellbeing services county of North Savo.
