Annalisa Savaresi is an environmental law expert with a 20-year track record of working alongside international and non-governmental organizations. She obtained her PhD from the Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen in 2013 and has since worked and taught at the universities of Edinburgh (2012-2016) and Stirling (UK), where she continues to maintain a part-time role.
Annalisa’s academic portfolio includes over 50 peer-reviewed articles and contributions to well-regarded collections, which have been widely cited, including by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. She has held visiting posts at the University of Bologna, Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (Italy), and the University of La Sabina (Colombia). At UEF, she directs the Joint Nordic Master Programme in Environmental Law and oversees CCEEL’s contributions to the Horizon Europe project RETOOL and the Jean Monnet network Green Deal Net.
In addition to her academic work, Annalisa serves as the Director for Europe within the Global Network on Human Rights and the Environment. She is also an Associate Editor at the Review of European, Comparative, and International Law and a member of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law.
Annalisa has provided evidence to legislative bodies, including the UK, EU, and Scottish Parliaments. She also sits on the Board of Environmental Standards Scotland, a body established under the UK Withdrawal from the European Union (Continuity) (Scotland) Act 2021, which oversees the compliance of Scottish public authorities with environmental law.
