Katrina (Albert) Räty
Postdoctoral Researcher
A.I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences
I have expertise in models of Parkinson’s disease, with a focus on the main pathological protein: alpha-synuclein. I completed my PhD at the University of Helsinki and did my first postdoc at University of Cambridge. After starting in the Lehtonen lab, I have been working on my own project using human microglia and alpha-synuclein preformed fibrils. I have received a 3-year award from EU funder YUFE to carry out my work at UEF as well as other personal grants. My main interest is in making better preclinical models to find new treatments for disease.
