The research project investigates the quantitative accumulation of placements among preschool-aged children, the various placement trajectories, and the service pathways that precede and follow out-of-home care. The study encompasses services in child protection, family social work, and healthcare. It also examines how families’ socioeconomic status, health, and parents’ own service pathways are linked to children’s placement outside the home.
The project is led by the Department of Social Research, Social Work Discipline, at the University of Turku, in collaboration with the INVEST Flagship, the Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland, and the University of Eastern Finland.
