The ProMONI project aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of social and health care professionals in North Savo regarding multiple-birth families through specialised training. It seeks to develop safe, family-centred, and customer-oriented care for these families in maternity and child health clinics and specialised nursing care.
The project will create an online learning environment and training programme for nurses in maternity and child health clinics and specialised healthcare to become multiple-birth family specialists. A participatory cooperation model and national continuing education on multiple-birth families will be established for further training in the social and health care sector. This innovative project, unique to Finland and internationally, involves the Department of Nursing Science at the University of Eastern Finland, the wellbeing services county of North Savo, educational institutions, and third sector actors.
The project will increase the expertise and professional competence of social and health care professionals in meeting the special needs of multiple-birth families in nursing. This will lead to support, tailored information, and high-quality care for these families in maternity and child health clinics and specialised healthcare. The project’s long-term impact will be improved maternal health care and reduced maternal and infant mortality.
