Hadi Farahani

Researcher in migration and mental health, working across intergroup relations, youth, disability studies, and child protection. My work examines how structural conditions such as displacement, marginalization, and discrimination shape people’s mental health, and how services can respond in ways that keep people’s own knowledge and agency rather than override them, drawing on a cultural safety approach.

I work mainly with qualitative and mixed methods, including interviews, focus-groups, surveys, arts-based and visual methods, and the social representations approach. Across projects I use a community-based participatory approach in which the participants take part at every stage of research alongside the researchers.
