We are an interdisciplinary, cross-institutional group of scholars interested in issues related to the shifting and changing forms and borders of family and intimate relationships, care, gender, sexuality, and social and legal norms. In our various research projects and initiatives, we examine occurrences and consequences of transgressing spatial and normative borders, specifically in cases of accessing justice, relations and relating, social work, ethnic and religious minorities, LGBTIQA+ issues, and racism. We apply an intersectional lens to explore how the legal system, or society more broadly, succeeds or fails to recognize and accommodate the complexity of ways of being, living, and relating, and what kinds of individual and legal system-related experiences follow from this.

We resist rising forms of contemporary fascism by facilitating critical discussions and thought, creating spaces for rethinking and transgressing different borders constitutive of social life, and providing research-based knowledge for practitioners, academics, and the wider public. In addition to supporting research activity and collaboration, our group participates in lecturing and teaching at universities and organizes reading sessions and academic and artistic events.
