Carlos Gómez Gallego is a University Lecturer and researcher at the Institute of Public Health and Clinical Nutrition, University of Eastern Finland. He holds five-year Licentiate degrees in Biology and Food Science and Technology, an MSc in Nutrition and Health, and a PhD in Food Technology, Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Murcia, Spain. His doctoral research examined the impact of bioactive compounds from infant formulas and human breast milk on gut microbiota and immune system development during infancy. In 2021, he was awarded the Title of Docent in Functional Foods, Nutrition and Microbiota by the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland.
His current research focuses on understanding how diet, food components, and bioactive compounds influence the human microbiota and health. He also investigates novel food sources and functional ingredients, including probiotics, prebiotics, and other bioactive compounds, and their potential health benefits.
