The Dynamics of Systems Research Group investigates systems as relational, evolving, and causally structured processes, integrating perspectives from systems science, dynamical theory, and philosophy. Rather than treating systems as static entities, the group studies them as ongoing patterns of interaction through which structure, information, and behavior continuously emerge and transform. Its research combines conceptual analysis with computational and interdisciplinary approaches to examine multiscale causation, information dynamics, and the emergence of cognition in complex adaptive systems across natural, social, and technological domains. By linking theoretical foundations with applied modeling and analysis, the group aims to develop unified frameworks for understanding how systems organize, adapt, and sustain themselves, addressing the central question of how structured, dynamic, and cognitive phenomena arise from networks of interacting processes.
