Feminist, Cultural, and Social Studies of Education
The research group focuses on social and cultural processes in formal and informal educational contexts. Its researchers represent the fields of sociology, education, gender studies, critical disability studies and childhood studies. The shared interest of the group is to analyse how different social and cultural distinctions, such as gender, racialisation, social class, and ableism, are intertwined and constructed in institutional and in informal educational contexts, such as (early childhood education, school, working life or leisure time) and how they relate to the construction of learner subjectivities. The aim is to identify and analyse cultural processes in relation to educational equality and inequality by making visible complex power relations in the cultural phenomena that are usually taken for granted. Moreover, members of the group are enthusiastic in developing qualitative methodology.
