            Inhalation Toxicology Laboratory
The research of the Inhalation Toxicology Laboratory is focused on toxicological effects of inhalable environmental exposures in the immune system. Our aim is to identify the actual causes of health effects by using cell lines, experimental animals and clinical samples. The research is conducted using multidisciplinary approach in collaboration with experts in e.g. aerosol physics, combustion technology, microbiology, epidemiology and modeling.
We study how environmental exposures such as combustion emissions, outdoor and indoor air particulate matter, microbes and chemicals activate toxicological mechanisms leading to adverse health effects. In addition, we are also interested in the protective role of exposure to environmental microbes during childhood, e.g. their effect on the maturation of immune responses and development of asthma and allergies.
