We study, develop, and promote novel self-assessment practices for higher education. Self-assessment is at the
core of life-long learning, and improves students’ academic achievement and well-being. We focus on a novel type of self-assessment, the so-called competency-based self-assessment, in which students assess their competencies as a whole rather than a single product they have produced.
