Our multidisciplinary research group studies the phenomenon of hikikomori and social withdrawal in Finland and other Western countries. The group includes researchers from the fields of social work, sociology, adolescent psychiatry, and the study of religions. In our research, we utilize survey, interview, patient, and register data. We conduct our research in collaboration with professionals who work with socially withdrawn individuals.
