I am responsible for master’s-level education in Rescue Services Management. I teach on several courses and supervise both master’s theses and doctoral dissertations.
My research interests are broad, focusing, for example, on forecasting competence needs in rescue services, the crisis resilience of social and health care, and cross-sectoral collaboration and leadership at the interface between rescue services and social and health care in the operating environment following the wellbeing services county reform. Occupational wellbeing perspectives concerning first responders have accompanied me throughout my research career. Preparedness and foresight are always of interest to me.
I am an adjunct professor (Title of Docent) at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Helsinki. I have a PhD in medicine and two master’s degrees, in disaster medicine and health sciences. In addition, I am a licensed healthcare professional with qualifications in nursing and public health, and a specialization in occupational health.
At UEF, I am currently building academic research activity focused on rescue services, and I am happy to collaborate.
