My field of research is social scientific rural research, within the discipline of social and public policy. I have a PhD focusing on changes in civic participation in rural welfare services, and the relationship between civil society and the welfare state. My current research themes are rural service networks, social economy, village security, digital exclusion, and multi-local living and care.

I work as a special advisor in the Rural Policy Council’s (MANE) network for “Rural habitability, housing, and integration in rural areas” (MaalleKo), and I am also a member of the Rural Policy Council’s secretariat. I participate in networks and working groups composed of representatives from science, politics, and civil society.
