We are a group of cultural studies scholars who are interested in allotment gardens and garden plots from various perspectives. We analyze gardening as a part of garden culture, as an everyday activity, as cooperation and social activity, as relations between humans and non-human animals, plots, and soil, and as economic activity. Our background is in different research fields, and we come from different Finnish universities.

In cooperation with the Finnish Literary Society (SKS), we also produce a common set of research materials: writings from gardeners. The collection campaign is open from March 1, 2024, to October 15, 2024, at www.finlit.fi/palsta.
