Ecophysiology studies how the ecological and physiological traits of a plant affect each other. Functional traits, such as the capacity to photosynthesize at different environmental conditions, have an impact on how well plants can acclimate and adapt to climate change.
In studies focusing on photosynthesis, we have utilized gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence-based approaches. In addition, we have used various optical phenotyping methods, such as color photography and spectral imaging. Experiments have been conducted mainly with decidous trees, silver birch and European aspen, both at controlled conditions and field studies in a common garden setting.
