Eva del Amo Páez ([email protected])

Eva Maria del Amo, received her Ph.D. from the University of Helsinki with her dissertation “Ocular and Systemic Pharmacokinetic Models for Drug Discovery and Development” in 2015, and continued her research at the University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio in the ocular drug delivery research group under prof. Arto Urtti’s supervision. In 2018, she moved to Manchester where she started a Marie-Curie fellowship  (Horizon 2020, https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/799880) at  the Centre for Applied Pharmacokinetic Research, at the University of Manchester. Her research focused on Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic models for patients with neovascular age-macular degeneration with anti-VEGF treatment, under the mentorship of prof. Leon Aarons and in collaboration with prof. Paul Bishop. In 2020, she returned to the University of Eastern Finland with the Orion Research Foundation grant to pursue her research interests on: the application of modeling and simulation techniques to characterize the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of ocular drugs, guide dosing prtocols, and improve drug treatment in patients with retinal diseases. Moreover, she is interested in drug binding to ocular melanin pigment to sustain therapy action. Apart from pharmacometrics, she is trained in Quantitative Structure Property Relationship (QSPR) and chemoinformatics. Her computational models to describe and predict intravitreal pharmacokinetic in rabbits and humans have been followed and utilized by several small and big pharmaceutical companies as well as in Academia.

Currently, Eva Maria del Amo is a docent in the field of pharmacokinetic modeling and simulations, and research Fellow in the research community Drug Discovery and Delivery Technologies at the University of Eastern Finland. She has  published more than 40 publications including peer reviewed scientific articles and book chapters that have received >3300 citations (h-index 24). She has supervised 9 PhD students from Finland, UK, and USA (4 graduated), and 6 MSc and Bachelor students. She is a reviewer for journals such as Int J Pharm, Mol Pharm, Expert Opin Drug Deliv, Eur J Pharm Biopharm, Commun BioL and Drug Deliv Transl Res. She has acted as examiner for 7 evaluations on associate professorship, international PhD thesis and MSc thesis examinations.

Eveliina Korkiatupa ([email protected])

My PhD thesis deals with tropical rainforest restoration and how the restoration affects to biodiversity. I study how fruit-feeding butterfly (belonging to family Nymphalidae) and tree communities are recovering in a large-scale restoration area in Kibale National Park, Uganda. Active restoration has taken place since 1995, and this has created an interesting age gradient of the restored forests.

As project researcher I focus on African grasshopper, Ruspolia differens populations.

Eveliina Laine ([email protected])

Eveliina Laine is a doctoral researcher at University of Eastern Finland’s Center for Climate Change, Energy and Environmental Law (CCEEL). Her research focuses on legal norms on international climate adaptation finance and their implementation in practice.

Evgenia Amey ([email protected])

My research focuses on contemporary culture, media, language, place and society; topics I have studied include literary and media tourism, narrativisation of space, digitalisation, media consumption, spatial engagement with fiction, environmental storytelling, fan cultures and belonging. I work as a postdoctoral researcher in the project ‘Kieliviha/ Språkhat – a multidisciplinary study on hate speech directed at linguistic minorities in Finland, Sweden and Russia’ (Kone Foundation 2024-2026).

Fatemeh Maleki Almani ([email protected])

I am a PhD researcher in Applied Physics with strong background in Applied Mathematics, working at the intersection of mathematics, physics, and computation, with a strong focus on inverse problems and imaging.
I actively use MATLAB as my primary computational tool for numerical modeling, PDE-based simulations, inverse problem solving, and optimization tasks, particularly in the context of Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT).
My broader research interests include computational physics and mathematical modeling.

Fiia Söderholm ([email protected])

My research focuses on student well-being, its development from comprehensive school to upper secondary education, and its links to support and learning difficulties.
