I am a member of the Technologies for Learning and Development research group at the School of Computing. My doctoral research focused on developing a Technology‑Enhanced Knowledge Management Model tailored to the needs of higher education and research institutions in developing countries. Through an in‑depth case study of the UbuntuNet Alliance Research and Education Network across Eastern and Southern Africa, my work examined how technology-supported collaboration can strengthen research capacity and knowledge sharing in resource‑constrained contexts.
My research interests include the design of technology‑driven collaboration platforms, knowledge management systems, and educational technologies that enhance teaching, learning, and research in higher education, particularly within developing regions. I am especially interested in how local contextual factors, institutional practices, and socio‑technical dynamics influence the adoption and sustainability of such technologies.
During my PhD, I contributed to teaching and several multidisciplinary research initiatives. These included the Vauhtia Uralle project, which aimed to support flexible skill development pathways for young graduates, and the Erasmus+ project TRUE – Transparency of Learning Outcomes through Blockchain Technology, a consortium of eight academic and industry partners across Europe.
I currently teach courses in robotics, introduction to blockchain, and information systems. I also continue to participate in ongoing research activities at the School of Computing, including multiple Erasmus+ consortium projects in collaboration with European universities and technology partners.

In my PhD research, I study utilizing Monte Carlo method and stochastic optimization in quantitative photoacoustic tomography (QPAT). QPAT is an imaging modality where a short light pulse is used to generate ultrasound waves, which are measured on the target boundary. The aim is to reconstruct distributions of optical parameters providing information on tissue physiology, such as haemoglobin concentration or oxygen saturation. This is an ill-posed inverse problem requiring accurate modelling of light propagation in the target for its solution.
Monte Carlo method is widely utilized in modelling light propagation. Utilizing the method for solving the QPAT inverse problem is, however, computationally challenging, especially when reconstructing high-resolution images in three-dimensional volumes. The objective of my doctoral research is to develop methodologies which address the computational challenges and build a framework for using the Monte Carlo method in QPAT.

I am a highly motivated Doctoral Researcher with a passion for the intersection of biomechanics, computational modeling, musculoskeletal diseases, and osteoarthritis. My research focus is on developing innovative computational methods to transform the way knee injuries and early osteoarthritis are treated. As part of the DEEPMECHANOKNEE consortium project under ERA PerMed, I am working on a cutting-edge multi-scale modeling workflow combined with deep learning algorithms to provide personalized intervention options to prevent or delay the progression of osteoarthritis. With a goal to improve public health, I am dedicated to advancing our understanding of musculoskeletal diseases through cutting-edge research.

Airway research group aims at identifying clinical and molecular factors for better prediction of inflammatory and neoplastic airway diseases, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) -exacerbated respiratory disease (NERD), asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis and tongue cancer. We use such as next generation sequencing and artificial intelligence in analyses of clinical cohorts and randomized placebo-controlled clinical trials.
