I am a Professor of Craft Science with a research focus on the cultural, societal, and educational dimensions of crafts, viewed through both local and global lenses. My work explores how craft practices—both intangible and material—contribute to cultural heritage, sustainability, and social justice.

I am deeply committed to advancing equality and equity through crafts and believe in the power of collaborative research. I actively participate in national and international networks to strengthen the field of craft science and foster interdisciplinary dialogue.

In Finland, Craft Science is the core discipline in craft teacher education. I supervise Master’s and PhD theses in this area, and my research interests include topics such as equity in craft education; well-being through crafts; skill learning and teaching; critical craft pedagogy; remote and digital craft education; STEAM and multidisciplinary approaches in craft education; intercultural crafts.

If you are interested in these themes or have ideas for collaboration, I warmly invite you to get in touch.

I work as a University Lecturer in Social Work. My research has focused on violence as a phenomenon, particularly domestic violence against women, as well as on encounters within the service system during challenging and distressing life events. In my doctoral dissertation, completed in 2022, I examined the structures, practices, and agency related to addressing domestic violence against women. After the dissertation, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in a project that explored the traumatic experiences and service use of women with criminal backgrounds. Currently, my research focuses on technology-facilitated violence and issues of economic abuse.
