Subhanjan Sengupta

I am an Associate Professor in the Innovation Management (INNO) subject area, with a special focus on Sustainable Innovation (SUN) within INNO, at the Business School, Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies, University of Eastern Finland.

I have a keen interest on how businesses, as well as non-business actors, integrate social and environmental sustainability in their solutions (product or service offerings) addressing sustainability challenges. More particularly, entrepreneurial, social, institutional, and business model perspectives interest me in this regard.

Briefly, my research experience includes research on the making of social-circular economy through sustainability-driven entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship in rural settings, social-market convergence and hybridity, sustainable business models, resource dependency, and ethics as practice. I have also participated in multidisciplinary activities with specialists from other fields such as environmental sciences, biological sciences, and policy studies, bringing my expertise to combine with the requirements in their fields.

I have developed and taught courses to postgraduate students on basics of entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, responsible business, and strategic management. I have also developed and taught courses on qualitative research methods at the masters and doctoral level.
