Dr Tuula Honkonen is an expert in international environmental law. Her broad-based expertise ranges from climate law questions and functioning of multilateral environmental agreements to national implementation of international genetic resources regulation and operation of transboundary water agreements. Dr Honkonen’s current research interests lie in climate law and participation in climate policymaking in particular, the dynamics of multilateral environmental agreements, and water diplomacy. Dr. Honkonen has extensive experience in teaching, journal editing, consultancy and reporting work, research project management and the preparation and facilitation negotiation simulation exercises for international environmental law-making courses. In her research, she seeks to combine the legal perspective to practical policy-making, both at the national and international levels.
