Sosiaali- ja terveysjohtamisen laitos, Yhteiskuntatieteiden ja kauppatieteiden tiedekunta
Professori Kaija Saranto on toiminut sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollon tiedonhallinnan maisteri- ja tohtorikoulutusohjelmien johtajana vuodesta 2000 vuoteen 2022. Tiedonhallinnan maisterikoulutusohjelma on akkreditoitu ensimmäisenä maailmassa Lääketieteellisen tiedonhallinnan (IMIA) yhdistyksen toimesta. Saranto on mukana tutkimusryhmissä, jotka keskittyvät tiedonhallinnan analytiikkaan, jaettuun päätöksentekoon ja etähoitoon sekä potilasturvallisuuteen.
Saranto on valittu jäseksi kansainvälisen Lääketieteellisen tiedonhallinnan kollegioon (ACMI), Amerikan hoitotyön akatemiaan (AAN) ja hän ollut perustamassa Kansainvälistä terveystieteiden tiedonhallinnan akatemiaa (IAHSI), jonka johtajana hän toimii 2022 -2024. Aikaisemmin Saranto on toiminut Sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollon tietojenkäsittely-yhdistyksen puheenjohtajana (STTY) ja valittu yhdistyksen kunniajäseneksi 2019. Hän on ollut HIMSS TIGER komitean kansainvälisen työryhmän yhdyshenkilö.Tällä hetkellä hän toimii Euroopan lääketieteellisen tiedonhallinnan yhdistyksen (EFMI) koulutustyöryhmän puheenjohtajana ja on aktiivisesti kehittämässä kansainvälistä terveydenhuollon tiedonhallinnan opetussuunnitelmaa digitaaliseen yhteiskunntaan. Saranto on myös kansainvälisen teveystieteiden tiedonhallinnan yhdistyksen (IAHSI) n puheenjohtaja.
