Our research focuses on elucidating the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying tumor–microenvironment interactions, with particular emphasis on the role of inflammation in cancer progression, tumor cell plasticity, and therapeutic resistance. We are especially interested in understanding how immune cells, particularly macrophages, and their secreted factors modulate cancer cell phenotypes and contribute to the development of a pro-tumorigenic microenvironment. Our research investigates the complex interplay between inflammatory signaling, extracellular matrix remodeling, and intercellular communication, including the roles of hyaluronan and extracellular vesicles (EVs) in regulating tumor cell behavior and immune cell functions.

Our studies primarily focus on melanoma and prostate cancer, integrating mechanistic in vitro investigations with translational research utilizing clinical patient cohorts. By combining cellular and molecular approaches with the analysis of tumor tissues and peripheral blood samples, we aim to identify novel molecular mechanisms driving cancer progression and treatment resistance, as well as potential predictive biomarkers of therapeutic response. Ultimately, our research seeks to advance our understanding of tumor biology and contribute to the development of more effective, personalized cancer treatment strategies.
