Sari Tillonen

My doctoral research focuses on structural-historical thinking, historical understanding, and how modes of historical thought are conveyed in university teaching. Structural history is understood in this study as a broad, transdisciplinary way of thinking that shifts attention from individual events to societal structures and long-term, multi-layered temporal processes of change.

I supervise pedagogically oriented Master’s theses in history within the joint teacher seminar (Opeseminaari) organized by the Department of Geographical and Historical Studies.
