Sari Tillonen

My doctoral research examines the formation, conceptualization, and transmission of structural historical orientation in Finnish historiography and in its connections to university teaching. Structural history is understood in this study as a broad, transdisciplinary way of thinking that shifts attention from individual events to societal structures and long-term, multi-layered temporal processes of change.

I supervise pedagogically oriented Master’s theses in history within the joint teacher seminar (Opeseminaari) organized by the Department of Geographical and Historical Studies.
