“I teach courses that cover Finnish history from the era of Autonomy and Independence to the present day, with a focus on Structural and Social History perspectives. Additionally, I teach courses aimed at History and Social Studies subject teachers and work as a HOPS-advisor. I am also involved at the departments’ Opeseminaari, which is a joint master’s seminar group for subject teachers in history and geography.
My on going doctoral research examines the historical development and independence process of the Social Studies. My research belongs to the field of Educational history but it has a strong multidisciplinary framework that includes elements of Structural and Social History, as well as Educational Sociology. The aim of my research is to bring new knowledge to the relatively under-researched Social Studies subject and thus take part into a scientific discussion and the development of history and social studies teacher education.
