Tarit Baul ([email protected])

Tarit Kumar Baul is currently working as a Project Researcher at University of Eastern Finland (UEF) (on leave from Professor, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh). Since 2011 he has been working as a faculty member at the Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences (IFES), University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. He holds a Doctoral Degree in Forestry from the UEF, with MSc in Agroforestry (Bangor University, UK), MSc in Agri. Dev. (Copenhagen University, Denmark), and MSc and BSc in Forestry (IFES, Bangladesh). The main research focus is on the climate impacts of carbon sequestration and material substitution by forest biomass, with implications on the management of forests, agroforests, and tree outside forests (TOF). This includes LCA, ecosystem- and techno-carbon, and substitution impacts analyses. His research is also focused on nature based solution (e.g., urban forests) to environmental pollution, conservation, utilization, and management of biodiversity, and forests-people-climate interaction, with emphasis on indigenous knowledge.

Tarja Kvist ([email protected])

I am a professor in nursing science, nursing leadership and a head of department of Nursing Science. My research area is health service research, especially quality of care, attractive organizations and leadership. I supervise several master and doctoral thesis and post doc researchers. International collaboration is an important part of my work. I have also a part time work as a nurse director at Wellbeing Services County of Central Finland.

Tarja Malm ([email protected])

I lead the Neuroinflammation research group. We aim to find regulators of microglial dysfunctions in neurodegenerative diseases.

Taru Peltola ([email protected])

I am an environmental social scientist having background in environmental policy studies. My research topics have ranged from energy, forest biodiversity, wolves and other wildlife to food and waste issues. Currently my work is focused on water and plastics in the society. My research interest encompasses human-nature relations and the politics of environmental knowledge, including epistemic power relations and knowledge controversies. I am also exploring citizen engagement and agency in sustainability transformations. In addition to environmental policy studies I am inspired by science and technology studies, especially posthumanist and pragmatist approaches attending to non-human natures as well as corporeality and materialities in social scientific inquiry. Thereby, I am interested in the role of affects and emotions in environmental governance, human-wildlife cohabitation and care of things. In my work, I have also had a chance to experiment with science-art collaborations.

Tatu Lajunen ([email protected])

Tatu got his PhD in Pharmacy from University of Helsinki in 2016. He works on drug delivery to challenging target sites, for example posterior segment of the eye, tumors and central nervous system. Tatu has diverse international research background through working in Santen Pharmaceuticals in Japan as well as Kyoto University and Tokyo University of Pharmacy & Life Sciences. The current focus of his research is the utilization of nanoparticle drug delivery systems for targeted treatment of diseases with biomacromolecules. With the help of his international network of collaborators, the work continues to progress the field towards better medications. Tatu received in 2025 a Title of Docent in Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology in UEF.
