Strengthening child-protective collaborative processes through feedback-informed treatment

Feedback-informed work provides information on the views of professionals, children and parents on the situation of clients, which in turn influences the child welfare and protection process. Feedback-informed work has been shown to have an impact on the professional culture of social work and interaction skills have been strengthened through feedback-informed work. Research has also shown that the exchange of information between different partners increases understanding of the overall situation of the child and family, provides a range of information for decision making and enhances the capacity of professionals to respond to the situation. Lack of cooperation has also been identified as a key cause of serious neglect or abuse of children.

The FITFUTURA project will strengthen the effectiveness of child protection by exploring the role of feedback in child protection work. The project is carried out by the University of Eastern Finland together with the Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences (XAMK) as co-investigator. The project partners are the welfare regions of South Karelia, South Savo and Kymenlaakso.
