Research group

Established in 2013, the Center for Climate Change, Energy and Environmental Law (CCEEL) is based at the Law School of the University Eastern Finland. It brings together the Law School’s activities in the areas of climate change, energy, natural resources and environmental law. Aiming for high quality and international impact, the Center provides a common platform for discussion, research and education on these topics.

CCEEL aims to produce high-quality and policy-relevant research in its areas of expertise. The Center’s research activities are carried out by four research groups, focusing respectively on: climate change and international environmental law; water law and policy; energy law; and Finnish national environmental law. CCEEL is hosting several research projects with funding from the European Research Council, the Finnish Strategic Research Council, the Academy of Finland and the Finnish Ministry of the Environment.
